Youth Empowerment Through Skill Development
At Nirmala Foundation, we believe that youth—especially young women—should have the chance to learn skills that make them financially independent and creatively confident. Through our free training centres in Old Mustafabad, Delhi, we have empowered over 200+ students in stitching, mehandi design, and makeup art.
Every batch has 20–30 students, and each student receives personal attention, practical training, and a completion certificate. Our aim is to not just teach—but also inspire them to pursue self-employment, freelancing, or local business.
These skills give youth a chance to:
- Start home-based services or small businesses
- Earn income through freelancing in weddings and local events
- Build confidence, creativity, and community connections
- Dream bigger for their own future
Here’s a look at some of our proud moments and achievements:
Certificate Distribution – 11th October 2023
After months of dedicated training, this event celebrated the hard work of 30 young women who completed our stitching and mehandi courses. Held at our centre in Old Mustafabad, it was an emotional day for many first-time learners.
Highlights:
- Certificates awarded to 30 students from the July–September batch
- Guests and instructors encouraged students to take up freelancing and home-based work
- Special speeches by alumni who have started their own work
- Group photo sessions with proud families and trainers
- Distribution of starter kits to help students begin their careers
Many students had never received any recognition before—this was their first real achievement.

Fashion Design Contest – 26th August 2023
This contest allowed our stitching students to showcase what they had learned through a live fashion competition. With basic materials and a lot of creativity, each student designed and presented an outfit.

- Prizes awarded for Best Design, Creativity, and Presentation
- Boosted morale and interest in further fashion education
For many, it was their first time being applauded publicly for something they made with their own hands.
Certificate Distribution – 24th January 2024
This was another proud moment where 28 more students completed their training in Mehandi Art and Stitching. This time, we also focused on helping them find work opportunities.

- Certificates distributed to students who completed 3-month training program
- Career counselling included on starting as bridal mehandi artists and tailors
- Local boutique owners invited to meet trainees and offer job leads
- Students received fabric samples and practice kits
- Group feedback session with trainers to improve next batch
The confidence these girls showed while receiving their certificates showed how far they had come.

Makeup Art & Mehandi Competition – 2025
In this upcoming event, we invited our current and past students to take part in a Makeup & Mehandi Art Competition—showing not just their learning, but their passion for creativity and precision.
Highlights:
- Live makeup and bridal mehandi application by students
- Judged by professionals from beauty and fashion industry
- Open participation from former students and local girls
- Prizes for technique, creativity, and speed
- Exposure and leads for freelance jobs and beauty parlour apprenticeships
This was not just a competition—it was a career launchpad
Why This Training Matters
So many young women and girls in Old Mustafabad have dreams, but no one to guide or train them. With no money to pay for classes, they are often stuck doing household chores all day.
Our free centres are changing that—one skill, one certificate, one dream at a time.
Still, we face many challenges:
- Not enough machines, kits, and practice materials
- Small space with growing number of interested students
- We need more trainers, better equipment, and funding to expand
- Many talented students have to drop out due to lack of support
How You Can Help
You can be part of their journey—from a beginner to a professional. Here’s how:
- Donate to help us buy sewing machines, mehandi cones, makeup kits, and rent space
- Volunteer as a trainer if you know stitching, beauty, or mehandi
- Sponsor a new training centre in your area—we’ll guide and run it fully
- Spread the word and share this page with people who believe in women-led progress
A needle, a cone, a brush—they may look small, but in the right hands, they can build futures.
