Empowering Women with Skills for Self-Reliance & Dignity
Across India, thousands of women want to earn, support their families, and live with dignity—but lack even the most basic vocational skills or training opportunities.
Nirmala Foundation’s Stitching (Silai) Centre project aims to empower such women, especially from poor and rural backgrounds, by providing free tailoring and fashion design training. With this training, they can start their own home-based businesses, get employed in boutiques, or even collaborate in self-help groups (SHGs).
Our goal is clear: Empower women to earn with pride—using their hands and skill.
Project Goal
To establish a fully functional Silai Training Centre that trains 100+ women per year—entirely free of cost, with proper infrastructure, trained tutors, and certification.
Why This Project is Needed
- Most low-income women are unskilled, unemployed, and financially dependent
- They are often confined to homes due to social restrictions or childcare
- With tailoring skills, they can work from home, start small businesses, or take boutique jobs
- There’s high local demand for tailoring, stitching, and mehandi art, especially during festive seasons
Our Silai Centre creates economic independence, confidence, and dignity for women who have been left behind for too long.

Why Your Support is Urgent
We already have interest from multiple communities, and dozens of women are waiting to enroll. The training model, curriculum, and tutors are ready—but without funding, we cannot begin.
If we delay, many of these women may lose motivation or fall back into financial dependency. Some are single mothers, others have sick family members they care for. This is their chance to stand on their own feet.
Let’s not miss this moment.
